The Understanding Boss
A software engineer goes to her boss to request time off. “We’re moving to a new neighborhood and I have to get my triplets settled into a new school, my husband’s car was rear-ended by a beer truck yesterday and he’ll be at home for at least two weeks and my sister’s house was destroyed in that freak storm Tuesday and I have to help her get her life back together. I think if I had five days I could get things sorted out enough come back to work.”
“Sorry, no can do,” says the boss. “If I did it for you I’d have to do it for everyone who comes in with the same story.”
