Member Tip: Payday Variations in Your Union Contract
On items like pay, you may be surprised at the level of detail in your union contract. You may find, for example, page after page spelling out eligibility for different pay levels, rules for shift or other differentials, when and how you can get a raise, and when—and if—your pay can be cut. The contract may even specify what information is to appear on your pay stub, how frequently you are to be paid (perhaps even when you are entitled to receive your money when the normal payday falls on a holiday), and rules concerning direct bank deposit of your pay.
